LEEDS UNITED DUO EDGE CLOSER TO FIRST-TEAM RETURN

Despite travelling with the rest of Christiansen’s squad to Austria, Klich has not made an appearance since Leeds’ opening pre-season friendly with Harrogate Town, as he struggled with a muscular injury.
Berardi has featured regularly throughout pre-season, but missed Leeds’ final game of their Austrian tour, a 4-2 defeat to SD Eibar.

The duo could return for Leeds’ final pre-season friendly against Oxford United at the weekend, which would give the club’s supporters their first opportunity to see Klich at Elland Road.

Klich was one of Leeds’ first arrivals of the summer, signing a three-year deal in West Yorkshire after the Whites agreed an undisclosed fee with FC Twente.
Berardi’s return will be a huge boost for Christiansen, with the Swiss defender once again expected to play a crucial role at Elland Road next season.

The 28-year-old made 26 appearances in the Championship last season, with the majority of those coming at left-back, as he filled in for the injured Charlie Taylor.

Taylor has since departed Elland Road, and Leeds have failed to sign a recognised left-back, leaving Berardi the favourite to fill that role at the start of the season.
