Arsenal vs Barcelona: Mesut Ozil’s Barcelona demands revealed
On Thursday, Spanish paper AS ave delved into Mesut Ozil’s personal demands to switch to the Camp Nou.
Crucially, it’s been claimed that Barcelona officials have met with Ozil’s agents to discuss a move.
One of the reason Ozil hasn’t signed on at Arsenal is because of the player’s wage demands.
According to AS, Ozil is demanding a370,000 euros per week to complete a deal with Barcelona in January.
That works out an annual salary of 19 million euros a year.
AS note that Barcelona will struggle to meet those demands. The Catalans need to slim down their current wage bill, which could be achieved by offloading Arda Turan.
It’s further noted that aside from his “astronomical salary”, Ozil is demanding a “significant” signing on bonus too. Yet, on that issue, AS believe it’s a “minor issue” for Barca.
The final point of note forwarded by AS is that Arsene Wenger would be willing to sanction the move to avoid losing Ozil for Man United in summer for free.
At the same time, Catalan Radio report that Barcelona will pay Arsenal 20 million euros. Ozil, they claim, will sign a three-year deal at the Camp Nou.
