Tottenham Hotspur Flop Moussa Sissoko Looking for Escape to Ligue 1 After Nightmare First Season

Spurs midfielder Moussa Sissoko is reportedly keen to leave north London this summer, after just one season with Mauricio Pochettino's side. The French international has struggled to establish himself as a first-team player since moving to White Hart Lane from Newcastle United, starting just eight Premier League matches in the 2016-2017 season.
Sissoko's nightmare could soon be over, as it has been reported (via the Mirror) that Ligue 1 side Marseille are set to offer the player a chance to rejuvenate his career. Spurs spent a hefty £30m on Sissoko, a fee they make struggle to recoup. The Frenchman has been the subject of much derision since joining Spurs, with Twitter bursting to the brim with witty criticisms:

Following an excellent showing for France in the Euro 2016 tournament, Spurs acted quickly and snapped up Sissoko in the following transfer window. Since joining the side, the player failed to make an impact in a squad bursting with midfield talent; falling behind the likes of Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier in Pochettino's central-midfield pecking order.
An experienced international with 52 caps to his name, the 27-year-old may well jump at the chance to rebuild his reputation in the familiar environment of his home country. The former Toulouse midfielder also struggled to endear himself to the fans of Newcastle United, who often questioned the commitment of the player when it came to the less high-profile matches.
