Liverpool ‘hopeful Emre Can will sign new deal

Can, who was part of the successful Germany squad at this summer’s Confederations Cup, has less than a year remaining on his current deal.
However, as reported by the Daily Mail, Can is close to committing his future to Liverpool, with discussions set to continue once the 23-year-old returns from holiday.
Can joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in 2014 and has gone on to make 129 appearances for the club, scoring eight goals.

Although he is best suited to playing as a defensive-midfielder Can is also capable of playing at centre-back if required, making him a very useful member of Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

It is clear that Can is capable of making a major contribution for Liverpool both defensively and in an attacking sense. Last season, for instance, he averaged three defensive actions per game and also created 33 chances.
