Norwich city prolongs deal with Goal keeper Remi Mathhews

Norwich City goalkeeper Remi Matthews is in talks with the club over a new deal at Carrow Road, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Matthews is currently in the final year of his contract at Norwich and the club are keen to secure his future on a longer deal.

The 23-year-old has come through the ranks at Norwich, but is yet to make his first-team debut for the Canaries.

Matthews is highly-regarded within the corridors of power at Norwich, but he has been unable to force his way into the No.1 shirt at Carrow Road.

England Under-21 international Gunn has been made first-choice keeper since his arrival on loan from Manchester City with Northern Ireland international McGovern as number two leaving Jones and Matthews to battle it out for third-choice keeper.

Matthews has enjoyed four loan spells away from Norwich in the last couple of the seasons so that he can get valuable first-team experience under his belt.
The athletic shot-stopper has had two loan spells at Burton Albion as well as Doncaster Rovers before spending all of last season on loan at Scottish Premiership side Hamilton.

Matthews kept nine clean sheets in 27 games for Hamilton last term and he caught the eye during his stint in Scotland.
