Fifa rejects Leicester appeal over late paperwork


Leicester City's bid to finally secure the registration of Adrien Silva has been rejected by Fifa.
Silva, the £25m signing from Sporting Lisbon, is facing further frustration after Fifa refused permission for the midfielder to complete his move.
The Portugal international's transfer to Leicester was blocked in September when Leicester filed paperwork 14 seconds late, despite agreeing a fee and terms with Sporting on deadline day.
with the assistance of the Football Association, and were hopeful of persuading Fifa to sanction the deal so he could play before the New Year.

But a Fifa spokesperson said: "We can confirm the following decision of the Single Judge of the Players’ Status Committee: the petition made by The Football Association for permission to request the International Transfer Certificate for the player Adrien Silva and subsequently register the player for its affiliated club, Leicester City FC, is rejected."
Silva is now expected to be in limbo for the next three months and has been unable to even train with Craig Shakespeare's squad.
Shakespeare was desperate for the situation to be resolved,
